Phenylethylamine (PEA)
Phenylethylamine (PEA) is a monoamine similar to dopamine that is involved in mood control and mental alertness in the brain. It is most commonly known for being found in some chocolates which may be the reason some people get a good feeling from eating certain chocolate treats.
PEA has positive effects in regards to energy, mood, focus, and mental alertness. Its effects are relatively short lasted as it is broken down by the enzyme MAO-B within a few hours. This makes Phenylethylamine a short-lasting, safe, and effective product.
Phenylethylamine has two primary dosage protocols. The first protocol designed to simply improve mood, energy, focus and mental alertness is taking a dose of 250mg-500mg on an EMPTY STOMACH. This product seems to be much more effective when taken on an empty stomach rather than just after eating.
The second dosage for PEA is designed to attain a ‘high’ state. Larger amounts of Phenylethylamine taken on an empty stomach have been shown to produce a feeling of euphoria and ‘loosening up’. Common dosages used to achieve a euphoric feeling generally range from between 1000mg-2000mg. A lot of users have noted that taking 1500mg then taking another 500mg ~15 minutes later seemed to produce the best effects.
Phenylethylamine users have experienced some side effects such as increases in blood pressure, temporary rashes, dizziness, headache, tiredness and other mild side effects. Assess your tolerance by starting with a low dose and working your way up to an optimal dose you can handle. Follow all directions on the PEA product you are using.
As you can see PEA has a wide variety of uses including, but not limited to, treating depression, improving mood, improving focus and energy, improving mental alertness and producing an overall good feeling.
